The Court of Appeal here today decided
businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah entitled to receive RM20 million as
commission payment from a company and its executive director for his services
in the procurement of the bridge project in Johor Bahru.
The court presided over by Justice Datuk Ramly Ali said
based on the interpretation of the letter of undertaking, the amount payable
for the services rendered.
He said that Eskay has completed its work and the project
was scrapped question is does not arise at all.
The court said that the amount payable is not on the terms
of the project must be completed.
He claimed that Yahya get his help, following his good
relationship with the government.
Eskay also claimed that John has proposed RM20 million as a
reward for his services. And thus in February 1998, he managed to get a guarantee
from the firm, Charles E. Jay, based in Alabama, United States for loan of
RM640 million, as the initial conditions of the project.
He said that after he obtained a letter of guarantee from
the firm, he had met with the then Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on
May 3, 1998 to discuss the proposed project.
Eskay had also arranged a meeting between Yahya and Anwar
